Grade 6 – Geometry Mini Unit
I created this four-lesson Grade 6 unit to introduce students to key geometry concepts including angle measurement, triangle and polygon classification, congruence, and calculating missing angles. I designed the unit to include hands-on activities like the Polygon Puzzle and Triangle Detective to help students build confidence using protractors and rulers while applying logical reasoning in fun and engaging ways. My goal was to create a unit that feels active, collaborative, and connected to the real world so students can see themselves as capable and curious math learners.

Students rotate through engaging stations that build letter recognition, matching, tracing, and fine motor skills, while also encouraging creativity and communication. The lesson is grounded in story, using Winter: A Solstice Story to spark curiosity and connect to the First Peoples Principle that learning is embedded in memory, history, and story.
