I want to build my lessons around the First Peoples Principles of Learning, not just add them in as an afterthought. These principles are meaningful and powerful, and they deserve to be at the core of how I plan and teach. With so many Indigenous students in SD73, it is especially important that they see their cultures, languages, and ways of knowing reflected in the classroom. By embedding these principles into everyday learning, I hope to create a space where all students feel connected, valued, and able to explore their identities in respectful and authentic ways.
