Computer Science
I have a diploma in Computer Science pending application, and I plan to use this background to support students in developing critical thinking and technology skills. Computer science is one of the fastest growing fields, and I want to help students who are passionate about tech see how their interests can lead to meaningful learning and future opportunities. My experience gives me the confidence to integrate digital tools into the classroom in a way that is purposeful and engaging. I hope to create learning environments where students feel empowered to explore and grow through technology.
Michif and Secwepemctsín
As a Métis educator living and learning on Secwepemcúl’ecw, I have taken both Michif and Secwepemctsín language classes as part of my commitment to supporting Indigenous language revitalization. While I am still learning the basics, I believe it is important to model lifelong learning and to honour the languages of the land and my own history. These courses have helped me deepen my understanding of Indigenous ways of knowing and strengthened my desire to include authentic language learning in the classroom. I want my students to see Indigenous languages as living, meaningful, and worth learning and celebrating.
English and Communications
Taking a variety of English and communications courses has helped me develop strong written and verbal communication skills that are essential for teaching. These courses taught me how to write clearly, organise ideas effectively, and adjust my language for different audiences. Whether I am writing newsletters for families, creating lesson plans, or communicating with students and colleagues, I feel confident in sharing information in a clear and accessible way. Good communication plays a big role in building positive relationships in the classroom, and these courses have given me practical tools that I will continue to use in my teaching.
