Professional Standards for BC Educators

To me, the Professional Standards for BC Educators reflect the kind of teacher I want to be. I believe that every student can succeed, and I am committed to doing everything I can to support each learner in reaching their full potential, whatever that looks like for them. I want to create a classroom where students feel safe, valued, and capable. Building respectful relationships with families and caregivers is also very important to me, and I will always treat those relationships with care and confidentiality. I understand that being an effective educator means continuing to reflect on my teaching practice and adapting it to better support my students. It is also important to me that the classroom reflects a wide range of cultures and perspectives. I want all of my students to see themselves in the learning and to explore voices and stories beyond a just a eurocentric lens. I hope to help students develop a stronger sense of identity, belonging, and respect for others. I can do this by following the Professional Standards for BC Educators, which will act as a guide for creating inclusive, respectful, and thoughtful learning environments where all of my students can thrive.
