Emergency Child Care First Aid & CPR/AED Level B:
I obtained my Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR/AED Level B certification while working as a facilitator for the EverWild Explorers program with the Chase and Area Family Services (formerly known as Chase and Area Younger Learners Society). This is a weekly outdoor adventure group where we took the kids into the forest, to local beaches and a diverse range of environments to explore, climb trees, use tools, build fires and shelters and many more outdoor and land-based learning experiences. I wanted to make sure that I could respond if someone got hurt. Having this certification helps me feel confident that I can support kids in my care safely in any type of environment while still encouraging their independence and curiosity. I plan to keep this certification up to date as it expires so I can always remain prepared.

Responsible Adult Certification:
I completed the Responsible Adult portion of the Family Child Care Training while I was facilitating a variety of children’s programs at the Riverstone Family Resource Centre. These included science camps, Unplug and Play activities, and music-based programs. I took this training because I wanted to deepen my understanding of child development, safety, and guidance, especially while working in environments where children were learning through play. The course gave me a solid foundation for supporting young learners in meaningful and age-appropriate ways. It also reinforced my belief in the importance of creating engaging, safe spaces for children to explore and grow.

Parent-Child Mother Goose Program:
I received my Mother Goose training while working at the Riverstone Family Resource Centre, where I facilitated the Playgroup for children and their caregivers. This program was designed for kids aged 0 to 6 and provided a supportive space for connection and early learning. I was offered the opportunity to assist in Mother Goose sessions, which focus on the power of songs, rhymes, and storytelling to build early language skills and strong caregiver-child bonds. This experience deepened my appreciation for oral language development and showed me how simple, interactive moments can have a big impact on a child’s growth and confidence.
