I was born in Kamloops and raised in Chase, BC. I’ve always had a deep connection to this region, between the mountains, the lakes, and the people, it’s home. I plan to build my life and career in Kamloops, where I can stay close to my roots while contributing to a growing and diverse community.
I’m pursuing a career in elementary education with a particular love for science. I want students to feel excited about asking questions, making discoveries, and learning by doing. But beyond any one subject, what matters most to me is how kids feel in the classroom. Are they safe? Are they seen? Are they encouraged to be themselves?
School wasn’t easy for me. In high school, I was unmotivated, disconnected, and almost dropped out. Everything changed in Grade 11, thanks to a teacher who treated me with real respect and gave me the autonomy to figure out who I was. He showed me that a teacher can be a turning point, and that’s exactly what I want to be for my students. Not just someone who delivers content, but someone who builds relationships, shows up, and helps students see their own potential.
Because of my own experiences, I have a lot of empathy for students who are struggling, checked out, or acting out. I know what it’s like to not want to be in class, and I’ve learned that behind every behaviour, there’s usually something deeper going on. I try to approach those moments with patience and curiosity, not judgment. My goal is always to meet students where they’re at and work with them, not against them, to find a way forward.

Outside of school, I split my time between outdoor adventure and cozy downtime. I love camping, paddle boarding, biking, and being out in nature. I grew up hunting and fishing with my dad in the backwoods of Chase Creek. While I didn’t inherit his skills, I still love getting out in the beautiful place that we live in. I’m also really into geocaching, it’s the perfect mix of exploration, problem-solving, and pure fun outside. On weekends, I’m often hitting the road for a quick trip somewhere new, checking out farmers markets, or exploring small towns and hidden spots.
At the same time, give me a board game night or a chance to tinker with some tech, and I’m in. I’ve got two chunky cats at home that keep things interesting and slightly chaotic, and I have a huge soft spot for animals. I’m lighthearted and I consistently show up with a positive attitude. I think bringing a calm, upbeat energy into all aspects of my life.

I care deeply about the environment. Growing up in the mountains around Chase Creek, spending time outdoors is a huge part of my life. Camping, fishing, exploring—it’s all part of who I am. That connection has stuck with me into adulthood. I try to live in a way that respects the land, and I think it’s important to protect and preserve the environment for the next generation. It’s something I carry with me in how I live day to day.
Everything I’ve lived, learned, and loved so far has led me here, and I’m ready to keep growing, giving back, and making a difference right here at home.
